And just like that 2022 is over. How was 2022 for you? I had some shitty months but overall, I kept healthy, safe and above ground. So much happened in 2022, imagine a war between Ukraine and Russia. I thought we were over wars but in 2022 one started. Let’s keep on praying that this war will end soon as all it has done is separated families. We need peace in this world. 2022 was by far better than 2020, we never want to go back to what happened in 2020 so we need to continue practicing safety and good hygiene. We are over that. Travel returned strong in 2022, many destinations removed all covid restrictions and other entry protocols. I think you can say that we are back to what travel was in 2019, but a little more chaotic.
Travelers were ready to get to places, but it looked like the airlines and some resorts were not ready for the pent-up travelers ready to explore. The cancellations, delays and bad weather but mostly the airlines issues made summer and some of the busiest travel period a nightmare for some in 2022. The Christmas holiday season did not end well for some with the same issues the airlines experienced during the summer, weather and lots of human error. Families were left stranded for days at airports in the USA, important dates were missed and lots of annoyed travelers.
How can we avoid such? Well, it’s all on the airline to hire more staff and update their equipment. Yes, if only it was that easy. It takes a lot more as we have no power over the weather and we as humans need to learn to be more patient and understanding as well. When planning your trips, use a travel agent and remember to give yourself some leeway during the busy periods. When traveling during the busy periods, give yourself extra time and don’t travel the day of an important event. Travel a day or two before so you make sure you have some wiggle room in case of delays, and you make that event. And please practice patience, patience and understanding and always be nice to service staff. Lest see how this plays out in 2023.
Now back to me and 2022, I was very inconsistent with my blog, yes, I was terrible, and this is something I will work on for 2023. I did a bit of travelling, had a few speaking engagements and, I was ok. I was happy to see my travel partners out there doing what they enjoyed. Could it have been better? There is always room for improvement.
Now that we have gotten over that, what are your plans for 2023? What’s on your bucket list? What Caribbean destinations are on your 2023 bucket list? Let me know in the comments and we can create a plan so you can get the full immersive experience of the destination you choose to visit. It’s a big wide world out there, let’s explore together.
Hers wishing you safe travels in 2023. So, let’s go and have a blast!
Welcome to 2023.
