A visit to El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo Puerto Rico

I have visited Puerto Rico many times and always stayed close to San Juan for shopping, beach, etc.  I have visited as far as Ponce for the day but always trekked back to San Juan, so my first-time visiting Fajardo was a treat. Nestled on the northeastern coast of Puerto Rico, Fajardo is a coastal gem known for its stunning natural beauty, vibrant culture, and adventurous spirit.  A quick pick-up from the airport, followed by an hour’s drive to my resort, the El Conquistador Resort.  The El Conquistador Resort is on a cliff overlooking the pristine Caribbean waters.  I was pleasantly welcomed by the lush tropical gardens, beautiful grounds, swaying palm trees, and stunning ocean views, setting the stage for a truly luxurious stay.  After checking in, I was escorted to my room while the staff pointed out restaurants and other locations during the walk. I strolled into a spacious and elegantly appointed room featuring modern amenities and a private balcony overlooking the turquoise waters. The soothing coastal palette and luxurious furnishings provided a haven of tranquility, allowing me to unwind and soak up the beauty that surrounded me. I was ready to explore Fajardo, but not before I ordered my mofongo.

I was here for a conference. However, I had a day to explore and was looking forward to it.  The El Yunque National Forest, the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System, is in Fajardo. This experience is on my bucket list, but maybe next time. Another must-do experience in Fajardo is witnessing the incredible bioluminescent bay, another reason for a return trip. In the meantime, let’s see what the hotel has to offer.

El Conquistador boasts a private island, Palomino Island, accessible by a short boat ride, but first, you must take a quick ride on the funicular to the marina.  From there, you are picked up by the ferry for a 15-minute boat ride to Palomino Island.  The ferry leaves every hour, and there are plenty of chairs and umbrellas for everyone.   The island has a restaurant bar and a gift shop, so no worries if you forget the sunblock. Lying on the powdery white sand, enjoying the refreshing sea breeze, and taking a dip in the crystal-clear waters is what I needed. The island also offered water sports, like paddleboarding, for the more adventurous souls.  After enjoying the beach, it was time to head back to sample the water park and then dinner.

El Conquistador Resort offered an array of dining options, each promising a culinary journey. I enjoyed delicious meals at the resort’s restaurants, from seafood dishes to traditional Puerto Rican flavors like mofongo. The expertly crafted cocktails and the rooftop bar’s panoramic views added an extra delight to my evenings.  I had a few mongo-flavored Mojitos with great company on the rooftop.

I had such a wonderful experience at El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo. With breathtaking grounds and an array of activities, this resort was a sanctuary where relaxation, adventure, and luxury seamlessly merged. Whether seeking a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a solo escape, El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo provides the ultimate haven for creating lifelong memories and will leave you longing for more.  Go ahead and plan your trip; you deserve it.
