February is the month for lovers according to our calendars, so we get lots of marriage proposals, couples looking for getaways to rekindle their marriage, and don’t forget about the candies, flowers and chocolates flying off the shelves and every restaurant has a waiting period for dinner. Valentine’s day is a commercial holiday, and we all go along with it, though I believe that you should show the one you love how much you love them every single day. You do not have to wait one day of the year to celebrate love. A small gesture daily of weekly, it can be a note in your child’s book bag or your partner’s lunch bag. You can go one step further and order flowers monthly for your partner if that what they like or a dinner date once every so often. You do not have to wait for February 14 to show your love.
However, if you plan to do something extra special on Valentine’s Day for your loved ones, go ahead and do it big. A trip to a beautiful island always works, especially for some warm weather during the winter period. There are many destinations and hotels that identify as the most romantic, but romance is relative. You do not always have to get out of your house to create romance for your partner, that’s all relative. Romance can be doing something sweet for your partner like preparing his/her special meal, surprising them at work or a manicure and pedicure or couple’s massage. The list is endless and so much to choose from. Learn each other’s love language and work with that if you aren’t sure.
For me, my love language is food and travel.

I enjoy travelling and prefer not to wait until Valentine’s Day. Some of my favorite destinations are my homeland of course Saint Lucia and then there is Antigua, Turks and Caicos, St Kitts and Nevis, Jamaica, Dominica, Thailand, Singapore, South Africa, Paris France to name a few. The list could be very long so let me stop here. Anyway, do what makes you the happiest on February 14 and practice each and every day.
